Introduction
Chemotherapy drugs, or antineoplastic drugs, inhibit the growth of tumors. They are often classified as cytotoxic drugs because they kill cells. These drugs are most effective at killing cells that are rapidly dividing, and cancer cells tend to form new cells more quickly than normal cells. However, they are cytotoxic to normal cells and are associated with side effects. In this chapter, we will explore some of the most common chemotherapeutic agents used to treat CRC and the most common chemotherapeutic regimens.
