Capecitabine is an orally administered fluoropyrimidine drug that is converted to 5-FU in the body. Capecitabine has indications for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer, and is indicated for the adjuvant treatment of Dukes C colon cancer and treatment of mCRC. Capecitabine may be used as an alternative to infusional 5-FU. Capecitabine is associated with hand-foot syndrome, and compared to continuous infusion 5-FU, is more likely to cause diarrhea.
