THE CRC JOURNEY - COURSE 2

Treatment for colorectal cancers may include local treatments, such as surgery and radiation therapy, and systemic treatments, including chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies. A multidisciplinary team is often required, including gastroenterologists, surgical oncologists, colorectal surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, and other health professionals. In this eModule, we will explore the different treatment modalities used in CRC, and the roles of those modalities in patients with different stages of the disease.

After reviewing the contents of this eModule, you should be able to:

  • Identify treatment modalities
  • Identify the roles of surgery and radiation therapy in the management of CRC
  • Describe the systemic agents used in the treatment of CRC
  • Recognize treatment standards for nonmetastatic CRC
  • Recognize treatment standards for metastatic CRC (mCRC)
