THE CRC JOURNEY - COURSE 1

Colorectal cancer, or CRC, is the third-most common cancer (excluding skin cancer) diagnosed in both men and women in the United States. This eModule will provide important insights into how it forms, who it affects, and how it is diagnosed and staged. With this background, you will be better able to understand how it is treated.

After reviewing the contents of this eModule, you should be able to:

  • Identify the anatomy and physiology of the structures affected by CRC
  • Relate the basics of genetics and molecular biology to the development and progression of CRC
  • Identify key statistics on the incidence, prevalence, and mortality of CRC
  • List screening and diagnostic methods used in CRC
  • Relate stage of disease to probability of survival for patients with CRC
